The 78th Street Heritage Farm consists of 79 acres that are adjacent to residential properties in Vancouver, WA.
It is the largest single owned open parcel in the Hazel Dell Neighborhood. The farm has been county property since 1871, and has always had a focus on teaching the community how to raise their own crops and tend livestock. In 1926 the farm was redesigned by the same architecture firm that designed the Heathman Hotel and Paramount theater in nearby Portland, OR.
In 1943, Clark County negotiated a 21-acre lease with Washington State College to convert a portion of the farm into a research and experimental farm. In 2010, the farm underwent a major renovation to focus on celebrating Washington’s agricultural heritage, providing education for the community, and supporting sustainable agricultural practices.
You can get involved in this community garden by renting a community plot or taking classes through their WSU partnership,
