Kirsten is pretty much my dream client. She’s smart, organized, a straight-shooter, and knows what she wants. In the case of her most recent journey, it involved landing a new chapter in her career and purchasing her first home. Simultaneously. Badass!
We met a few months ago to get her going, and I shared my magazine ‘So You Want to Buy a House‘ with her. I put this together as a resource for buyers getting ready to make a move in the Portland, Ore. real estate market. Anyhoot – Kirsten was equipped with the knowledge to get started, she was pre-approved for lending, had her finances in order and was ready to go on the hunt to purchase. We mapped out her dream area, and she said she was going to stay open if the right house came along. She wasn’t planning on living in St. Johns, but sure ’nuff, an incredible home came to market that was exactly what she was looking for. I mean, can you believe that kitchen?!! Even though we had showings scheduled for the rest of the day, we looked at each other and said, “This is it.”
We put together a strong offer, knowing it was going to be competitive. She included a compelling personal story and took time to meet the neighbor and connect in a meaningful way. And, she threw down her resources, adding a few “perks” to her offer. The sellers, through their agent, got right back to us and said they knew she was the one, and didn’t want to make her wait through the rest of the weekend and open houses. Their beloved neighbor had mentioned meeting Kirsten and endorsed her as a welcome addition to the close-knit neighborhood. And through the transaction, everything was smooth sailing. Talk about kismet. Yay Kirsten!! I LOVE your new home, and p.s. I love your pants.
If you’re looking for a steady hand through the home buying process, I hope you’ll give me a call. I put to work my past experiences in journalism, marketing and communications to help create compelling connections to get the deal done.
Till then, high fives!
