As professional architects with Hacker Architects and (and owner of) Open Studio Collective, Allison and Nic filled their mid-century home in the South Tabor Neighborhood with thoughtfully designed moments and upgrades. They had planned to be in this home for the long haul. Having an extra-large lot in an increasingly desirable neighborhood, Nic and Allison had put together a plan for a significant expansion of the master suite, office, and family spaces to be completed in the near future.
Surprisingly this last fall, they were offered new and exciting job opportunities in Bozeman, Montana. (If they are totally honest, living so close to the slopes was a big bonus!) Being the brave souls that they are, they decided to move their lives and young daughter to a new city. The needed help selling their special Portland home.
Allison and I had worked together on delivering an iconic mixed-use tower in the Central East Side Industrial district together back in 2016 and had spent the next few years running into each other at Never Coffee and Knott Springs.
We connected over being female in a male-dominated industry, the juggle of being full-time moms and full-time professionals, great wine and coffee. I was excited when Allison asked me to help them sell their house so that could start their new adventure.
Together, we developed an effective marketing strategy for their home based on the current market conditions. This strategy leaned heavily on our connections with the creative community in Portland. We partnered with Fieldwork Floral to install custom holiday garlands and wreaths just in time for the holidays.
We also leaned heavily into photography with 22Pages and video marketing with AEimaging on the web and on Instagram to reach the target audience that this home would appeal to. Here are a few other Instagrammer’s posts of the house- helping us spread the word!
I held back-to-back weekend open houses and had over 120 buyers and their agents through the front door in the first 48 hours of being on the market (a personal record for me). The amazing activity in these first two days resulted in 13 offers-many cash and all over asking. This was all reminiscent of the bonkers 2015 market.
The seller’s accepted the offer and buyer that were best fit for them fairly quickly. On 1/14/2020, they sold their home for a sales price of $550k. That is $81k over the list price. I am so happy to have gotten to help them with this important milestone and onto more time on the slopes!
Congratulations, Nic + Allison!
