I got a call from the parents of a friend a few years ago. They were moving here from out of state to be closer to the grandkids. The plan was to move about an hour from Portland to a modular home park that was affordable. That is not my area of expertise so I referred them out, but I gave my two cents that mobile homes are not a good investment. I could actually argue that they are no more of an investment than a car or an RV. The financing looks a lot more automotive than home loan.
They moved forward with that plan, then a got a call earlier this year…it was time to move into a real house. We looked high and low around Tigard, Beaverton and SW Portland for a one-level in decent condition and at a reasonable price point. Those homes are popular for sure! Almost all of them got multiple offers. They settled on a house in a 55+ community that has a great club house and other amenities.
Downsizing is fun and it is always great to be near family!
