How to Safely Tour Homes During Covid

By Living Room Realty, May 7, 2020

Strong safety policies and procedures have been developed for real estate practices over the last month or so. These new practices are taken from CDC guidelines and industry leaders. For buyers who are wanting to get busy viewing real estate again here’s how it’s working well-

  • I’ll provide your pre-approval letter to the seller’s agents (now generally required prior to touring).
  • As time allows, I’ll tour the home alone, first and will either share a video of my visit or we can FaceTime the walkthrough together. If the house is still in the running, we will set up a time to see it together.
  • We will wear gloves and masks and keep 6+ ft apart from one another.
  • All tours require a bit more advance scheduling and touring owner-occupied homes are discouraged as much as possible. We’ll wait to talk about the home until we are back outside.
  • I’ll be the only one to open doors/turn on lights. In general, we want to limit what is being touched in the home.
  • We’ll always travel in separate vehicles to and from locations.
  • If and when we get into contract on a home, we’ll conduct all other meetings including follow-up meetings with inspectors and any possible re-inspections, using video and call conferencing. I do recommend an in-person walkthrough of the home just prior to closing.
It’s taken all industries, including real estate, to sort out how we can all live our lives and complete our work safely and efficiently and I believe we’ve finally arrived.

Stay Safe + Be well.
