Double-Secret Contingency

By Drew Burchette, June 30, 2020

Sometimes in a real estate transaction you end up with several dominos lined up. The status of a couple of sales in other states can set up a chain reaction right here in the neighborhood. When you really think about it…it is kinda crazy. The employment status or emotional state of a stranger in Phoenix can throw a monkey wrench in to your life up here. It is an interconnected world for sure.

Writing an offer, as a buyer’s agent, that is contingent on the sale of another property is a delicate affair. I’ve got to make sure that all the bases are covered and all the questions are answered before putting it out there. When my clients Jimmy & Carl found a RAD house, with an elevator, in SW Portland they still had an out of state sale pending. And THAT sale was contingent too. Yikes! Their offer was as solid as it could be, and it beat out the competition.

One by one the dominos fell the way we wanted them to and everyone was happy. It gives me faith in humanity to think about how many people had to honor their word, and do what they said they would, to get those sales closed.
