Tasteless Joke, Tasteful Food

By Living Room Realty, August 21, 2020

I decided to not start out this blog with a tofu joke, just because I felt like it would be …. tasteless.

In all seriousness tofu is the most underrated vegan menu item EVER. It’s always been my go to safe option at restaurants because it’s always packed with flavor (from the seasoning sauces) and nutrients.

Lately I’ve been trying to cook at home rather than going out and getting takeout. From this, I’ve learned that there is so much creativity that you can have with your dishes when incorporating tofu.

Fried and crispy. Boiled and soft. Stir fried over rice. Boiled and cooked in soup. The opportunities are endless! Not only the texture, but the flavors are endless! Tofu has the ability to just take on whatever seasoning or sauce you want it to have. It’s literally a cube of flavor being delivered straight to your mouth!

Best part? Low carbs, high protein and calcium. You really don’t have to count calories when eating tofu. It fits almost every diet where it’s vegan and extremely nutritious.

I admit though – I used to buy my tofu from grocery stores, like Safeway or H-Mart, which there is nothing wrong with! However, I recently stumbled upon Bui’s Tofu. It’s owned by a local Vietnamese family and they have every tofu texture imaginable! They even sell tofu pre-fried for you! Meal prep made easy!
