Gutters are not a sexy part of your home, but they perform a largely unseen but absolutely critical function: they direct rain water—the natural enemy of any home—away from the foundation, siding, and trim. If not maintained, gutters eventually clog and overflow, allowing moisture to go where it doesn’t belong. With all of this Portland rain we are having its important to get up on ladder (or hire someone else to get on that ladder), and clean out the gunk. Many of the houses we are seeing with wet basements are due to blocked gutters. Get it done folks. So you too don’t end up with a wet basement. Start with your gutters before you call a drainage expert.
