This One’s For the Caregivers

By Living Room Realty, April 6, 2021

Hi, Readers!

Recently, I helped close my first adult care facility sale. It was one of the toughest transactions I’ve worked, because of the many layers involved. It wasn’t just about buying the home — the buyers also wanted to take on the business and keep the tenants in place. They needed to create an agreement with the sellers to provide gap licensing coverage in the interim of the buyers getting theirs. They had to navigate many, many hoops in the lending process. And finally – we did it.

When I first met Naphtali and Candy, I was drawn to their warmth and friendly nature. They had dreams of owning and operating a group of adult care facilities – and when we explored more of what that would look like – I decided that I was all in. You see, I grew up in nursing homes. My Grandma Mary had a similar business – she owned care facilities in Battle Ground, WA, and my Mom (a retired RN) would work swing shifts when I was a baby through my toddler years. That place was my nursery school and the friends that I made there are still fond memories. But the people – the care givers – were the ones that really stand out.

So, here’s to the caregivers, thank you for all you do. And Naphtali and Candy, thank you for your trust.
