The Dream: Magic or Persistence?

By Yascha Noonberg, August 8, 2022

After a couple months of searching a friend asked my clients,
“If you could live anywhere in Portland, where would it be?”

My clients agreed SE Harrison Street in the 40s would be the dream! Fast forward 2 days, here’s my email to the listing agent for a home in that exact location: “My clients Dan and Danielle (that’s right, they pretty much have the same name), absolutely love this home! They’ve been searching for a home to put sweat equity into and stay for the next 20 years.
This home has everything on their dream list: a Craftsman with value-add opportunity, a basement that Dan can stand in (he’s tall!), upstairs bathroom, even a sunroom, front porch and good schools!” I left out more at the risk of sounding creepy…this house had it all. This magical experience didn’t fall into their laps though; they worked for this!
After their last house buying experience, they didn’t want to settle. Each tour unveiled more of what they wanted so when they saw this home, they could act!
The best part, we talked them out of selling their home!
They added a great rental to the housing market and an opportunity for generational asset building for their daughter!

We work as a team and on this one, I
(Hannah Atherton),
took the lead. Grateful to guide this wonderful family on their journey!

My professional life started with owning and operating a music school and recording studio in SE Portland. Eventually I was drawn to real estate both as an investor and subsequently as a consultant to homebuyers and sellers as well as fellow real estate investors. My family and I have lived on both sides of the river, and we spend a lot of our down time at the coast in Manzanita. My real estate business and family keep me very busy but whenever possible I get out on the courts to compete in tennis leagues and tournaments, and I recently started playing Pickleball. I also mix in the occasional gig or young audiences performance with local jazz group Trashcan Joe.
