From dark bar to big backyard

By Living Room Realty, August 22, 2018

Recently I had the pleasure of helping Lindsey purchase her first home. She is the sister of one of my closest friends in Portland and it meant a lot to me that this family feels a deep sense of trust in me, not only as a friend but also as their REALTOR®. Being an agent for a first time homebuyer is quite an honor with a lots of responsibility to help educate, navigate and assure the buyer through their first transaction. Lindsey came into the process knowing what her priorities were – location in a familiar neighborhood, ability to be close to work and a fenced-in backyard for her pup.

Lindsey is a successful bartender at a local tiki bar.  However, this bar has tinted windows, to assist in setting a thematic mood inside. It was important to her that her home have good natural lighting as well, to really make home feel like a retreat away from work. We found a great home for her in the NE 42nd st neighborhood. Walkable, hip and a bit lowkey, this neighborhood afforded Lindsey all that she needed. While she makes a big show of preparing flaming drinks at work, Lindsey is looking forward to the quiet practice of stoking the fire in the wood burning fireplace of her new home. The house features some vaulted ceilings and full glass doors to the backyard, both helping to make the space feel larger and brighter. The backyard is an ideal size – big enough for her dog and small enough to be manageable. It is a blank canvas and allows the perfect opportunity for Lindey to add her own style and touch. The big question is – will it be tiki themed?
