Our home search with Jeff and Emily actually started last year. The couple were a referral from us from one of Jake’s good friends and our past clients. Last summer, Jake and I took turns going on lengthy tours throughout Portland. Jake showed them amazing the East side, while I took them on a West side tour.
The reason for their move was to get their kids into a great school district. While we weren’t out touring, they were making the rounds and visiting potential schools. Very quickly they were drawn to Lake Oswego, with both LO High School as well as Lakeridge offering the programs that they were looking for. However, things came up and we punted on their home search for a year.
Fast forward to this summer and Jeff and Emily come back, already set with their school, ready to purchase a home. The search was hot and heavy from the get go, looking at 20+ homes in 3 days. There was some differentiation in the wants/needs of Jeff and Emily. Jeff is a builder the thought of purchasing a home that could use some work excited him. Emily and their girls have lived through this a couple of times and were looking for something more polished and finished.
In the end, the girls won out. They got a newly constructed home literally across the street from Lakeridge High School. Don’t worry though, Jeff still has some things to keep him busy. It turns out, wooden doors that are south facing and have no overhead awning don’t fair so well against Portland’s weather. This home had 3 such doors and it became a sticking point in our negotiations. You could see the doors already had damage after just one winter, however the builder wasn’t about to come and replace 3 basically new doors. We were in a real door jam. After a bit of back and forth, we got through it and got the house closed!
Emily and Jeff were a real pleasure to work with throughout this past year. They were always positive throughout. Just wanted to say a quick thank you to them and congratulations!
