When our buyers decided to pack up their favorite possessions and move back to Portland from the mid west, they ditched their IKEA furniture and hit the road. They arrived in mid December, two kiddos in tow and camped out at a friends basement rental. The Portland market was just getting wild and they hit the ground running.
They came to us well educated and from a family of Realtors, they knew the process and were quick to adapt to the reality of our current market. That said, having your weekends dominated by loading the kids into the minivan over and over and over again only to have your hopes and dreams dashed each Monday is a daunting process. It really will wear on even the most seasoned buyers. We would meet up again the following weekend, baked treats in hand to heal the sorrows of Monday’s misfortunes and repeat, repeat, repeat…
They had their hearts set on being in Sellwood, walking to coffee shops, cake shops and lovely parks. There were many days when this truly seemed like an impossible dream.
Then just like that, the perfect house appeared!
Could it be?
Fully remodeled, amazing basement apartment (full real windows, all the light all the finishes just perfect!) They wrote a strong offer and crossed their fingers. The listing agent called me and said that the seller loved the offer but was wondering if they would accept a counter that was a bit higher but would include all the furnishings….like everything! All the airbnb bedding, towels, dishes and all the furnishings, carpets, tv’s in the main house too! Could it be more perfect? They literally just get to move right in and start hanging art and planting flowers! It really couldn’t have been a better match and we are just so thrilled for them.
Plus sometimes you meet clients and you just know that you also met new friends and thats the cherry on top!
