When I met Mike and Mel at a coffee shop on a sunny Tuesday afternoon in early March I was immediately smitten. These high school sweethearts were now married and the pros parents of 3 fur babies. It was perfect that Mel was a veterinarian! They both had such a zest for life and were so excited to start looking for their first home.
Their lease was coming to an end, and we discussed timelines, how long to expect to be looking…and all the details that come after finding the perfect home. I knew we would hit the ground running – and we did.
Shortly after our first meeting, the three of us looked at a cute house in Sherwood. We were not the only lookers to find the house so appealing and found ourselves in a bidding war we did not win.
That’s okay….amazingly enough, Mel and Mike shared my thought that it wasn’t meant to be and their perfect house was still out there.
Not too much longer another house in Tualatin came back on the market…we immediately saw the house, they knew it was for them and Mike and Mel made a strong offer that day…accompanied by a sweet letter about themselves and how much they loved this home. An updated transitional home to have the modern farmhouse look – it was easy to love.
The sellers were a little gun-shy after falling out of escrow, but a couple (looonnnng) days later the offer was accepted! Mike and Mel were elated! Adding to the excitement – our closing date was April 16th – Mel’s birthday!
We faced challenges in within the transaction – all related to COVID19 – and things looked different: social distancing at the home inspection, signing closing documents in a park, etc. – but today, on Melanie’s birthday, I was able to hand over keys to Mike and Mel and kick off the birthday celebration.
The only hang-up…how can Mel top this for Mike’s birthday in 11 days?!
