I first connected with Elizabeth in early January and she was so excited that her plan was finally coming to fruition. We hit it off right away and spent an hour chatting, getting to know each other and talking about next steps. She was going to sell her house in Lynnwood and relocate to Vancouver. Elizabeth planned to put her house on the market in March and kept busy replacing carpet, repainting, moving her furniture into storage…
She came down to house hunt early March and we found the winner…so light and bright with a tranquil yard where she could see herself spending time. She offer the sellers her contingent offer, it was accepted and home she went, with the intention of putting her house on the market that Thursday.
On Thursday the governor shut the state down – real estate in Washington came to a screeching halt.
Over the next 5 weeks Elizabeth went on a roller coaster ride! Couldn’t list her house in Lynnwood, couldn’t have her home inspected in Vancouver, then could stage and list her house but only two people were allowed in at once….all following new and ever-changing directives and protocols.
Of course, this real estate market, while open, was unknown: both the disease and the economic factors were playing into decisions. The once red-hot market in Lynnwood and Mill Creek had slowed, buyers were moving with more trepidation.
After 3 weeks that felt like 3 months, Elizabeth got an offer on her home and once the details were worked out we were off and running…or jogging! She came back down to Vancouver with her almost adult child and they both still LOVED the house.
So this week, Elizabeth and Arie (part-time while college is all online) will make the move down to Vancouver, to be near family, to slow down their lives and to execute that plan that took 41 turns, but is finally working out.
