Blog Buyer When It's Meant to Be

When It’s Meant to Be

By Kim Parmon, November 13, 2020

Sometimes, things are just meant to be.  I find myself saying that phrase a lot these days.  This market has been red hot and it can be hard to be a homebuyer!  I watch my clients fall for a home, write an offer, and then get the news that there are eleven other offers competing.  I remind them that if it’s meant to be, it will work out!  They not always believe me, but it always ends up being true.

Johnny and Savannah are two of the loveliest people you’ll ever meet.  They are good friends with some of my past clients and gave me a call earlier this year to say they were ready to find their first home.  We explored different neighborhoods, price points, and styles.  They considered new construction but were more drawn to vintage charm.  They thought they had found “the one” and wrote a strong offer on a beautiful house in North East Portland.  Unfortunately they ended up competing against many other offers and the home ultimately sold for well above their budget.  They were bummed but undeterred.  We continued our search, but nothing was popping up that felt as good to them.

I’ve been mostly working from home during the pandemic, but I happened to be in the office one day at the exact right time.  One of my fantastic colleagues was also there and we said hello to each other.  I told him that I have these wonderful clients that are having a hard time finding their house and something clicked in for him.  He let me know that he had a new listing coming on the market in two days time.  He described the house and it sounded perfect.  I waited patiently for his listing day and sent Johnny and Savannah the property as soon as it hit the market.  They absolutely loved it and we got in right away to see it.

Once again, there were multiple offers.  But this time, Johnny and Savannah prevailed!  Between their aggressive offer and my great relationship with the list agent, we got it!  Johnny and Savannah were able to buy their first home, which happens to have been a home that was loved and cared for by one owner for 40 years.  I am so excited for them to raise their family in such a wonderful place.

When it’s meant to be, it happens!  Hang in there, friends.  Your house is out there!
