We had been looking for a time-worn house, something with charm, loads of character, and good bones, in one of the inner historic neighborhoods in SE. For fun, we popped into a gorgeous, new 3 story Craftsman in a neighborhood not yet visited by my clients. They were sweet, trusting of me, and up for an adventure. After arriving on the quiet street, we walked up the beautifully built wooden steps to the balconied front porch and stepped inside. They fell in love with the house, the light, the spectacular view of the West Hills from the upper back deck, and the Wolf gas range in the sparkling kitchen brought a glow to their faces.
It wasn’t just the open layout and high ceilings that was giving them all the feels. They both said, they could feel a certain vibrance in the home they connected to. After submitting an offer and beating out some tough competition, we happily entered into contract with the sellers and their wonderful listing agent. After a few days, my clients realized they had a number of connections with the sellers. Turns out – they share a variety of community and went to the same school here in Portland together. Over the course of their transaction, the two parties made on bond and became fast friends. Stories of growing food in the garden, the special filter installed for the entire home’s water system, and shared tips of how to care for house plants became just a few of the many conversations they began to have together.
I am so delighted for my clients that we found such a meaningful home for them. While the sellers have moved to Colorado, I hope they will stay close with their home’s new owners for years to come. Congratulations Zev and Jenny! I am so touched to have been a part of this wonderful transition.
