What makes up a great neighborhood?
Most people can agree that close proximity to great restaurants, a grocery store, good schools and parks, and a good bike and walk score would do it. We have plenty of neighborhoods in Portland that would fit the bill. But I think one of the best ones would be Sunnyside.
Sunnyside is located between SE Hawthorne and SE Stark from the mid-20’s to 49th. It’s home to an astounding number of restaurants, bars, and coffeeshops, as well as being one of the most walkable parts of town. Commuting by bike? Easy peasy. The Sunnyside Environmental School is a celebrated institution of sustainability, surrounded by the student-tended gardens. The homes are a mix of the decades, but since it’s one of the older Eastside neighborhoods, it’s mostly gorgeous Craftsman-styles and Victorian Farmhouses.
Let’s be honest, Portlanders are pretty obsessed with good food. Sunnyside is a haven for all things edible and drinkable. From classic dives like the Triple Nickel and Claudia’s, to hip cocktail bars like Circa 33 and Gold Dust Meridian, to more wholesome eateries like Harlow and Dick’s Kitchen, there is something for everyone and every mood.
If this sounds like the place for you, I have the most beautiful home currently available for sale!
