Apricot is a wordsmith by trade, a wonderful storyteller by nature, and a passionate environmental advocate. She has devoted herself to sharing stories of the people, and making sure their voices are not lost. A teacher, a writer, and a mother–she spends a lot of time inspiring others.
David and Apricot live out in the Columbia River Gorge, down a quiet gravel road. It’s beautiful and peaceful, and fills their nature-loving hearts, but Apricot realized that (especially during the pandemic) she was really missing seeing people. There is a certain human vitality found in the city that they found really nurturing and necessary, and most importantly, inspiring.
When I first met Apricot and David in 2018, they had been referred to me by a good friend to help them sell their condo in NW Portland.
They had owned that unit for many years, since before they started a family, and shared fond memories of their boys as young toddlers in the condo, and of how they enjoyed being so close to the river – its sight a daily constant and wonder. Another thing I remember from that first meeting was a discussion of a book I was reading, and that they had read and put into practice, The Whole-Brain Child by Daniel Siegel. What I took away from that day was the gratitude of finding and working with people that I felt a kindred spirit with, that I felt inspired by, and lucky to get to know.
So, David and Apricot reached back out this summer wanting another hunt for a condo in Portland proper. They were looking for a place they could bring their boys for weekend adventures, a place where Apricot could write, and a place buzzing with people. Eventually, they narrowed their search to the Pearl District, as the neighborhood offered so many wonderful places to explore.
They fell in love with a beautiful light-filled dwelling, in a stately old Portland building, that provided a beautiful view, and just felt right. It was wonderful to see the bright eyes of this family as they went over all the possibilities that the space had to offer. It was easy to see that this home would bring them so much joy.
With a great agent on the listing side, this transaction was full of great communication and very positive all around.
Congratulations David and Apricot! I can’t wait to read all the beautiful words you send out into the world from your NW Portland outpost!
