For 8 years, John and Sharon have walked past “that cute white house on the corner”, only 5 homes up from where their oldest daughter lives with her husband and two granddaughters. The whole family has always admired the flat lot, the chicken coop visible in the back, the beautiful front windows, and it’s perfect location just a walk down the street from where family had already made their roots. For the past year, John and Sharon have been actively looking in the Maplewood area as they plan their next phase of life – retirement, and a move from Northern California up to Portland to be closer to their growing family. Location was key, followed closely by future potential to grow into the home and make it their own through renovations and remodeling. After 4 rejected offers on properties that felt like a perfect fit, “that cute white house on the corner” was listed for sale for the first time in almost 20 years.
“This is it!” was the immediate response from the whole family. The pressure was ON. But exactly 2 months later, after a seamless and successful escrow period, I was thrilled to hand over the keys to the new owners – my clients!
It is not easy to be a buyer in this market, and after a few rejected offers it can feel extremely discouraging. Although it can feel cheesy, optimistic, and maybe down right annoying to hear your agent say – “I promise you, the right one is out there for you!” let this be proof that it’s true! There is something amazingly serendipitous and maybe, even all that more rewarding when you finally get the keys to your new home, walking in the front door knowing that moment was made just for you.
