Finishing up an open house one Sunday afternoon, I got this call from Renee, a past client and friend: “So, I just came out of an open house in our neighborhood, and well, we’re actually just kind of blown away by it. Do you think it’s possible to go take a closer look at it, like right now?”
Always happy to jump, my answer was an immediate “Yes!”
Driving up to this spot, I realized I was heading into a section of Mount Tabor that somehow maintains both a manicured and intricate quality, like there’s a garden gnome under every lovingly plucked and pruned Japanese maple. And, here we were, within one of the most exclusive, upscale blocks in the entire city. I’m at once blown away by this find and thrilled to tour this slice of history.
And she was right, this house was a true stunner. Built in circa 1900, this house is absolutely chock full of undisturbed beauty. From the unpainted woodwork, the grand main floor spaces, the new deck, and so many balconies, just a tiny bit of elbow grease will make this majestic beauty shine again. And I was amidst the family that could do just that.
For Renee, Dolan, and their two school-aged kids, this house is all about where to install the rope swing (way up in that gigantic tulip tree!) and the fabulous yard. For Renee, it’s “How much food do you think we can produce here? Let’s utilize every spot of sun this space will produce.” And for Dolan it’s “I think all of my bikes will fit in this garage and we can still even plug in the electric car over here. Solar panels on this roof, new insulation, and energy upgrades will bring this place up to speed.”
It’s a home to last a lifetime (and more!) and a family perfectly suited to give it all the love it deserves.
Congratulations!
