You guys, I have a problem. It’s taken me years to fully admit this but I’ve finally come to terms with it: I’m an addict.
If I don’t have a project to work on I feel like I’m going a bit crazy. And when I feel like I’m going a bit crazy I start to look at buying a new house and moving my whole family in order to LIVE in a new project, which is a terrible idea. I’ve figured out that I need my design fix and I need it bad! So I’ve learned to compensate by fixing OTHER houses, much to the relief of my child.
A few weeks ago I was trolling the RMLS at 4 pm on a Saturday, as you do when you’re an addict. And there it was: a great deal about a mile away from my house. I packed up the family into the car and headed right over. Yes, it smelled. Yes, everything needed to be done. No, I would not let my daughter touch a single thing in there. But I knew it was perfect. It had great potential and my 6:30 we had an offer in.
Miraculously, the bank took our offer despite having multiples that were higher. We got lucky! And two days after closing the project is already flying along.
So now here I am, knee deep in Pinterest and reading blogs on the best way to refinish cabinets while my husband is trying to figure out how to transport a pallet of flooring to the property in one trip instead of eight. I’ve got visions of encaustic tile dancing in my head. Yeah, I know. I’m kind of nuts. It’s a good thing that I have the perfect job for addicts like me!
