ALL IN THE FAMILY

By Living Room Realty, June 3, 2020

Last year I sold a house in Milwaukie to my clients Lizzi & Jeff. The house they purchased was on a flag lot and there was a significant amount of shared space with their yard and the adjoining property (the parent property that had frontage on the street). “It sure would be great if we could buy that house too someday” they remarked during our sale process.

Fast forward 6 months and I got the call: the house just went live and we want to take a look at it with our parents this weekend. Five minutes into the tour I realized that this was just a formality…they were definitely buying this house! There was a bunch of activity over the weekend, but theirs was the only offer and it was a no-brainer for all parties involved.

Now the family has their dream-compound with all of the privacy they desire and rooms to share + rent that you could ever need. Now, on to the neighbors on the other side (actually not joking…there has already been talk).

Should I wait until mortgage rates drop before I buy?

Jon Gould-Knight

Nobody has a crystal ball, but most projections suggest mortgage rates will stay above 6% for the foreseeable future. Even if they do drop, it’s likely to be a gradual decline, not an overnight plunge.
