At Play

By Living Room Realty, January 29, 2019

I ran into my client’s father at a playground he’d designed on Christmas day. He had been accompanying us at some viewings, tape measure in hand, full of suggestions. W had and easy, familiar report.

At the playground, my kids were entranced. He was chasing them around, luring them up and down ropes and poles; half playing, half testing out his design. I watched 40 years melt away as he leaped between swings, ran up the slide and crossed monkey bars as my kids howled.

I never think of time with clients as being “in the field.” And it’s times like this, on a brisk holiday afternoon, watching multiple generations goof around with total abandon, that I think – life is good. People are people and there’s nothing more important than play.
