Best Portland Coffee Shops with Toddlers

By Marissa Sainz, May 11, 2023

I have spent many a morning googling good spots to take my toddler on those lovely days off that we get to spend together. My 3 year old, Camila, is not a chill child so I am always on the lookout for great coffee shops with kid play spaces or entertainment.  Here are some of my favorites around town!

The Coffee Shop – 4712 SW Scholls Ferry Rd

This one is the closest coffee shop in our new neighborhood.  It doesn’t have a kid play area, but it is super family friendly. Every time we go in there are other kids enjoying a drink with and a relaxing with their adults. Bonus as 4pm every day they open the wine bar side of the shop for adults to enjoy a beverage:)

Awake Coffee & Art  – 7325 SE Milwaukie Ave

Camila and I discovered this one over spring break this year. We went for the Monday morning story and art event and loved it. They offer other events throughout the week and always have art supplies for the kids to use outside of events. They also have a little back area with toys for the littler ones. 10 out of 10.

POA Café – 4025 N Williams Ave

Yes, this one is great for kids, but THE FOOD IS SO GOOD! They make the best smoothies and brunch bowls. There is a small kid play area with blocks and a big outdoor patio. You can’t leave without buying their house made Pink Beet Tahini sauce to take home. I put it on everything.

Albina Press – 4637 N Albina Ave

Albina Press is my Portland coffee shop.  We lived two blocks from this spot for almost 10 years and it will always be my favorite. Camila and I used to walk here Saturday mornings and sit outside chatting with all the neighbors. Hands down the friendliest shop that invites you into its community.

Rose City Coffee Co – 3370 SE Milwaukie Ave

This one is right across the street from Brooklyn Park.  Grab a coffee and walk to the park on a sunny day.  They also have live music on Saturday mornings which is super fun for Camila.

The Living Room Coffeehouse – 8524 SE 17th Ave

This sweet coffee shop has a lot of space and a big back area with kids toys and books. Great spot to cozy up on a couch or invite a friend with their kids to play.
