Not being a germaphobe by nature, none of this comes naturally to me. Back in 2011, my mother and I both sold our homes and went in together on a sweet English Bungalow in the Hawthorne Corridor. After we moved in, we added a an ADU (accessory dwelling unit), which is her primary residence. It’s been great! It was awesome for my mother and my daughter to really get to know each other while my daughter was growing up. It has been awesome to be able to seamlessly help each other with projects, groceries and the like. In the era of a pandemic, it has been a lifesaver, and our proximity has made saving her life, as in not bringing home a virus that could easily kill any of us, but especially an older person, a major focus and a priority for me. Thus ensued the great lengths to which we are going to keep it all clean…
A Vegan’s Groceries Taking a Bath
Produce gets delivered, soaked in soapy water, rinsed, dried under the supervision of Bender, the Real Estate Dog and Ruby, the cat, from her catio.
Packaged goods shed their packages.
Somethings just get a wipe down.
Shoes that go out in the world get a vinegar bath.
Mail and newspapers get quarantined for days.
When you are home a lot, which is very unusual for me, you can enjoy a a greater selection of fresh foods. A really cool way to keep some fresh produce for easy grabbing is a Veggie Dome.

Eventually you get to enjoy the fruits, and veggies, of all the labor. Stir fry, it’s what’s for dinner.
