First time buyers luck out in Lents!

By Robin Hakeman, December 29, 2018

Welcome to Portland Rosenow family!! Allan, Nicole and their kids moved to Portland last year and have been staying with Nicole’s parents who are past clients of mine. When it came time to find a place of their own, I was excited to help them through the process of buying their first home.

We started out looking for 3 or 4 bedroom homes in outer NE, SE and Milwaukie. Nothing was striking their fancy, so after a brief period of looking in Vancouver, they decided to look at 2 bedroom homes in Portland. It didn’t take long before they happened upon an open house in the Lents neighborhood and called to tell me about it.

The house has been fully remodeled and while it is only 2 bedrooms, it has an extra half bath on the main floor and a 2nd bedroom large enough for their kids to share. They envision turning the garage into an office at some point.

As soon as I saw the house, I knew exactly why they liked it. It is a great size for their family and I could see that the seller had made some nice choices with the remodel including tiled showers, under mount sinks and upgraded appliances. A nice deck has been added off the master bedroom and there is a new fence around the yard. We discussed some concerns about the location being near a busy street but overall they were happy with the neighborhood. The home is close to some newer commercial spaces, walking distance to a cute coffee shop and some great food carts. Nicole and Allan have a vision for what this area could look like in the next five years and they are excited to be a part of it.

They decided to move forward with an offer and we were under contract soon after – for $10k below asking price! They closed the day after Christmas and couldn’t be happier. Congratulations Rosenows and Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be a part of this special purchase!!
