Forever Home Found!

By Living Room Realty, October 21, 2019

After a long wait, Deb finally got keys to her amazing forever home! I met Deb through her awesome son who thought we would be well-matched. She had been exploring a move outside city limits a few years ago, and was reeling for a new construction home that had more space and less maintenance then her existing home. We put a blue print together for her move which included the sale of her Foster Powell home and set out to explore various new construction from Damascus to Cornelius. Most of the new builds that caught her eye were two story homes which she was fine with, but there was a lot of discussion about her having an aging dad and this next home being the one she wishes to age in place in. Being that one story homes are a rarity in new construction, we decided to leave the option on the table but not to fixate.

Deb is as easy-going as it gets, but the one thing she wouldn’t budge on is that the kitchen sink could absolutely not be seen from the front door which is super common feature of an open floor plan. She also really wanted a large covered outdoor patio similar to the home she was leaving behind. On one of our outings we were out looking at code built homes on the far west-side, and were both feeling a bit discouraged by the quality and lifestyle offered by what we had seen that day.  I pulled over on the side of Hwy 8 and pulled a home up that she had brushed aside originally. I think there may have been a happy hour bribe involved, but she humored me and we headed over to take a look at the model home. Upon walking through the door, and the further we explored it felt as if the builder had somehow read Deb’s mind with all of the features and finishes. This was the perfect home for her, but after a call to the listing agent we learned that it was already under contract with another buyer. He did say that they were going to break ground at the lot next door which will be another one-level with a similar floor plan. We got a copy of the blue prints and this other home was actually even more perfect and the builder was willing to allow her to customize it to her liking. It was so fun helping her through every phase as we thought through details from laundry room door location to tile surrounds.

In the end, the pride and joy of her vision executed through great patience and perseverance truly paid off, and seeing Deb in her new gorgeous home leaves me with a happy heart – another mission accomplished!

I would love to be part of your next move…
