Matterport™ provides 3D tours of properties so that you don’t have to keep explaining layouts of a home to people who you can’t take to the home, you can show them.
I know that seems slightly better than showing them pictures, but there are some neat features beyond getting to virtually stroll a home your selling or buying.
1: Estimating
The most frequent question that pops up after touring a home is “How big was [XYZ]?” Beds, fridges, carpets, windows, etc… Most people don’t carry measuring tape with them to measure every single aspect of a home that they’ll spend the next day obsessing over, so, having a way to estimate measurements from the comfort of your own home really helps when getting estimated bids for flooring, getting painting bids, figuring out if your bed will fit, or if that vintage dresser will be too big for that wall over there.
2: Remembering
Our human minds are unreliable when it comes to reconstructing minute details of a room that we have only visited once, while rushing through a home tour. I have had numerous conversations about what exists or doesn’t exist inside a room, just to turn to Matterport™ for a clarification of said rooms. No more disagreements between buyers about what rooms have closets or need window treatments.
3: Visualizing
It’s one thing to walk through a home, but when you get a chance to see a 3D layout of where plumbing pipes might be, or what rooms will hear the washing machine running at night, or how far the bathroom will be from your front door. Perhaps, seeing variable angle images will help you visualize how your living room can be configured before you get your couch through the maybe-too-small door. Matterport™ also has a VR option for some tours, this can put you back in the house if you’re technically equipped.
