Halloween in Portland

By Living Room Realty, October 23, 2018

Halloween is the Undisputed BEST Holiday

With a long history in TV production, with such titles under my belt as Grimm and the Librarians, it goes without saying that I might have just a slight obsession with Halloween. Especially now that we have our two daughters, I love going all out for Halloween. Coincidentally, so does the rest of Portland! In my neighborhood, and across North Portland, we are lucky to have gorgeous and historic Queen Anne’s and Victorians dabbled across the area, and many of them are an attraction unto themselves during this time of year. Some even throw full-blown haunted houses, allowing for a walk-through of these historic homes! Not to be missed! Finally, keep tabs on my Instagram (@househunterpdx) as I highlight some of these creative and spooky displays this season.

If You’re Visiting Portland…

Or looking for some Halloween themed festivities, here are a few I’ll definitely be keeping my eye on!

Children in tow:

  • Sauvie Island Pumpkin Patches: There are  several farms on the island that host a variety of pumpkin patches, hay bale rides and haunted (and not-haunted) mazes. Spend a day in a beautiful fall setting with lots of festive foods and beverages!
  • Festival of the Fairies @ St. Helens Waterfront | Family Fun & Magic, Vendors, Goats in Pajamas, Costumes & More!
  • Watch “Hocus Pocus” on the big screen! There are several showings of this holiday classic going on around town. Check out McMenamin’s Mission Theatre and Pub for family-friendly showings:https://www.mcmenamins.com/mission-theater
  • There will be plenty of Halloween walks happening in every neighborhood. Let your littles strut their stuff in their costumes prior to the big day.
    • St. Johns Halloween Walk: October 27th 1:00pm-3:00pm
    • Trick or Treat on Denver Street (Kenton): Thursday October 26th, from 5pm – 7pm along N. Denver (& Side Streets) between N. Schofield & N. Argyle!

Adult-friendly:

There is so much to do in Portland any given week in Portland. But a theme always makes things more fun! If you’re ever looking for something to do in Portland, keep your eye on https://www.pdxpipeline.com, a great resource for the goings-ons of Portland!
