When Ed and Andrea began their “forever” house hunt in SW Portland, we saw a lot of houses that were eerily familiar, so Andrea’s mantra quickly became: “I’ve already done this…” It was just plain weird how many houses we viewed that were basically the same home as the one they were selling! Ed and Andrea had decided to opt out of remodeling the remaining areas of their existing home that needed work: the kitchen and the basement. With two active teenage boys, Ed’s home business and the eternally busy life of a family of four with two working parents, remodeling just wasn’t in the cards. They wanted a home with a newer, open kitchen (Mantra #2: “Can’t it be a little pretty?”), and a private, dedicated home office for Ed. And with two active boys, bonus space was a MUST!
Enter SW Kruse Ridge: an immaculately cared for home with a level (huge score in SW PDX!) and utterly charming backyard, and drum roll please – an undeniably pretty kitchen! Yes, Ed got his dedicated, private home office that truly demands respect, and you can bet there is a killer upstairs rumpus room for the boys and all of their hobbies (and um, Ed’s – let’s just be honest here).
Andrea and Ed really wanted to stay in their current Jackson Middle School district but for a while there, we thought that might have to change. As always though, a little patience goes a long way in real estate and Ed and Andrea found a new home that actually checked all of their most important boxes.
On top of all of this, Andrea and Ed, successfully managed to both sell their existing home and purchase their new home at the same time with grace and ease. In our experience, buying and selling at the same time, is not for the faint of heart, but these two pragmatic and unflappable folks just took things one step at a time and got ‘er done.
Now all they have to do is move. Piece of cake…
