I was doing a bathroom remodel in January. Looking for something different and seeking inspiration, I decided to check out Ferguson’s showroom in NW. As I was looking around at all the beautiful fixtures I ran into Jake, my old co-worker Jordyn’s spouse. He remembered me and totally jumped in to save the day as I was a bit overwhelmed with all the choices!. He helped me pick out everything I needed and I was grateful for his expertise and for making the process feel effortless. Jake mentioned he and Jordan had been casually looking at houses in Oregon City and they would contact me in the next year when they got serious.
Not even one month later I was out walking my dog and I got a call from Jordyn. She said that she and Jake went to an open house and after just a few minutes inside they both knew it was their dream home. It was a ranch style home on a half acre with a huge shop. Room for their motorcycles and future toys. They wanted to make an offer right away. I said, “let’s do it!” Since they didn’t think they were quite ready to buy yet, we had never gotten together to talk about the home buying process and what that looked like. Luckily they trusted our relationship enough to let me guide them through it on the spot. They had already been doing their homework and gotten preapproved with a lender which was great.
When I learned there were 3 other offers on the table I knew if we were going to be competitive we would have to come in with a very strong offer. We wrote $10,000 over the asking price and added an escalation clause in hopes to seal the deal. Not only did the strong offer do the trick, but the seller loved the letter they sent along with it. I’m so excited I got to be their REALTOR® and guide them through the process. I’m over the moon to be giving them keys to their first house which is also their dream house!
