Mac was referred to me by one of my favorite lenders, Jennifer Leon at Umpqua Bank. Mac was a first time homebuyer just starting out her house hunting adventure. Mac was pre-approved to purchase a home with a combination of an Oregon Bond loan, a mortgage assistance program loan from Portland Housing Center, money from her IDA (Individual Savings Account) and a grant from Portland Housing Center that she qualified for. Her budget was pretty low- around $300k so we knew she had limited options. Within the first time outing, we found a darling little bungalow in Parkrose. It was priced at $295k so we thought for sure if it was as cute as it looked in the listing that it would be a fight to get it. Mac went home and slept on it and in the morning, she let me know she really did want to write. Fortunately there was only one other offer on the table so with an offer of $300k with some free rent back for the seller, Mac had her one and only offer accepted. The house was owned by a contractor who had done a lot of work on the house and it inspected really well. And a month later, all the layers came together and the house closed. And at $300,000, I think it was the last of it’s kind in Portland.
