Lyssi And Corey, Two Of The World’s Finest!

By Living Room Realty, October 4, 2022

Meeting Corey + Lyssi, you are automatically struck by the fact that these are two extremely hardworking, conscientious, and thoughtful people. They’ve just come through an immensely stressful time (packing up a house, selling their home, moving across the country with a child, finding a new home, starting a new job, etc) and yet they maintained this sense of calm, peace and even playfulness in their interactions. Just one of these events could send any of us into a full-on spiral. But, they have not only handled this transition with grace, they’ve also completed each category well.

Corey + Lyssi first met Kristin + Jason when they were searching to buy a home back in 2017

“We found the listing on their website. We called up Kristin and she agreed to take us to see it. We decided to go with Kristin to purchase the house. She was really sweet. Communicative. We hit it off and stayed in touch with them. We trust Kristin and Jason. She was honest and friendly during the buying process. Kristin was extremely helpful in connecting all the people who needed to be involved. I know you aren’t supposed to mix friendship and business, but this was the most seamless mix. They just became friends throughout the process.” – Lyssi

Knowing they would have a space completely their own, a space they had total authority over was immensely important to Corey + Lyssi. So, fast forward to 2021, when they got the news that Lyssi’s new job would require them to move across the country, they knew they had to make the difficult decision to sell the first home they ever owned.

“It just made sense to choose Kristin + Jason to help us list the house.”

As they began the listing process there was a lot on their plate –

“It’s really hard when you are packing up to move and you have school, work, and family to juggle. I started planning a year in advance and I’m so glad I did.” – Lyssi

“My biggest fear was that the internship was going to fall through, the market would implode and we would be left living under a bridge.

Honestly, the hardest part of this process was trying to get the lease on our new rental property. We ended up signing the paperwork to sell the house before we signed our rental agreement.” – Corey

As they began prepping the home for sale, it hit hard how important this home was to them. This was the first home they ever owned. The previous homeowner took a chance on them and allowed them to own property and have a sense of true stability and security in their lives.

“The day after we signed for that house when we first bought it in 2017, I found out I was pregnant. We raised our child in this house. It was bittersweet when we accepted an offer to finally pass it on to another.” – Lyssi

But Lyssi & Corey got to work. They dove right in and got the house ready for listing. They cleaned, prepped, moved out, and were getting ready for the Live date. They put in the hours and effort to get their home ready for showing and listing.

“I was about to have an emotional meltdown because I was in the middle of something with work and Kristin was so supportive. She even sent us a week’s worth of prepped meals! Corey was on his own trying to get the house sorted. Jason was there to help him. He just came and helped us through that last haul.” – Lyssi

All their hard work and effort paid off!

They received multiple offers and were on the market for only 5 days before accepting an offer!

What’s the biggest thing you’ve learned throughout this process?

“Treat yourself when you get your next home. Get the upgrades you want when you move in. We ended up upgrading and updating the house to prep it for listing. It was all the things we wanted to do when we moved in. We ended up making all the changes we wanted to see, but we didn’t get to enjoy it ourselves.”

If you were to start this process all over again, what would you have done the same?

“The prep work paid off. Everything we did for staging, etc. paid off. I had all our ducks in a row the best I could. Don’t leave things till the last minute.”

Even during this transition, Corey + Lyssi said the one thing that caused them zero stress was having Kristin + Jason on their team.

“At the end of the day, we knew Kristin and Jason had our backs. We didn’t have to worry about anything negative happening in our relationship with them. They were supportive. It felt very much like a team. And that really helped the process. We didn’t have to worry about anything that wasn’t on our plate. The Paperwork, timeline, legality of the sale, etc. We didn’t even have to think about it. We did our part, they did their part and we knew they had it under control. It was a good team. They went above and beyond!” – Corey + Lyssi

What would you tell someone who was just starting this process?

“Pick someone you trust to help you go through this process. Have a good relationship with your realtor. And stage the damn thing.” – Corey
