Moonstruck in Milwaukie

By Kim Parmon, March 9, 2018

A few months ago I got a call from Whitney, our incredible membership services manager at Living Room.  “I know you live in Milwaukie,” she said.  “I have some people I think you should connect with.”  Kylie in our rental department had some friends that were looking for a home and Whitney thought we would be a good fit.

A few nights later I met Sean and Rebecca for coffee after they got off of work.  They were first time homebuyers who were looking to move into a quieter area with more yard space.  They were organized, prepared, well-researched, and felt very comfortable knowing exactly what their budget was and sticking to it.  I was not only super impressed with them but felt incredibly lucky!  These two had it together and made it very easy for me to work with them.

We spent a couple of weekends looking at properties together and Sean and Rebecca quickly noticed that the market was starting to heat up, despite the fact that it was only January.  They’d send me a message saying they wanted to check a house out and a few hours later it would be in multiple offers or pending.  SO frustrating!  After carefully listening to the things they liked about certain homes and didn’t like about others I suggested that we take a look at a property that was listed a little higher than their max budget but that had been sitting on the market for awhile.  Rebecca told me we must be on the same page because she had just been looking at that one too.

Because the property had been originally priced a little high and sitting on the market we were able to get in a couple of showings to really make sure it was what they wanted.  When I have analytical clients I like to give them as much time as I can to make a decision because I know they need to weight everything very carefully.  After a few days they decided to offer on the property just as another offer came in but our offer was packaged and presented in a way that won out despite being under asking price!

There were some large repairs that needed to be made and we were able to navigate through the inspection process smoothly with the seller taking on everything that we needed him to.  The transaction wasn’t without challenges but Sean and Rebecca’s great attitude and organization kept everything moving through it all.  I felt truly blessed to have them as clients!  They are total gems that made my job a piece of cake.

Sean and Rebecca, I am so happy to have you in the neighborhood and wish you all the best in your new home!  And thank you for connecting us, Whitney and Kylie.  Much love to you all!
