Buying a house is a job. As a buyer agent, my job is to lead and coach a buyer, but there is a lot of work for the buyer to do as well. Meet for showings, stalk properties on-line, do loan applications, evolve their expectations, etc., etc. I’ve found that it takes a lot of motivation for a buyer to keep moving forward to the end goal of a key exchange.
For a recent client of mine it was no different. Long story short…we started the process in late Summer of 2018 and just closed the sale in early Fall of 2019. The difference between then and now was motivation. At the beginning, the search was for the perfect home with little room for compromise. The current living situation was just fine and there was no need to move; the search was more of a curious endeavor. We looked a properties in NW & SW Portland in fits-and-starts. There were a few that almost fit the bill…just not quite.
Then, in August 2019, it was time to make it happen. The current house just wasn’t working any more and the word ‘motivated’ came into our conversations. We looked at all the active inventory and had a house under contract inside of 2 weeks!
