Munchies on Mississippi

By Living Room Realty, July 18, 2019

Portland houses some of the greatest cuisine experiences in the Pacific Northwest, arguably in the United States as a whole. In this city the opportunities are endless, with new places popping up all the time. You can find something for everyone, with nearly any menu catering to different dietary restrictions. While each neighborhood has its own vibe and unique dining options, you definitely won’t want to miss out on what Mississippi Avenue holds.

Breakfast at Gravy – a local fix for anyone with a hearty breakfast craving. Get there early, as Gravy is beloved around the city. Bringing people together from all corners of Portland, Gravy’s menu features classic breakfast plates such as scrambles, dangerously delicious pancakes, and country fried steak. It’s a guarantee you’ll be out the door with a grin on your face and a satisfied belly.

Lunch at No Bones Beach Club – offers a new take on vegan cuisine. Though the whole menu is strictly vegan, this restaurant is a treat, even for meat eaters. With the freshest ingredients from local vendors, No Bones brings unique twists on beloved dishes such as nachos, served with a poblano cashew queso, sesame ginger wings, made with crispy cauliflower, and a breakfast bagel stuffed with a delicate mix of ingredients like tempeh bacon, scrambled tofu, and smoked pepper aioli.

Happy Hour at Bar Bar – the answer to your prayers. Looking for a casual, affordable, local spot to sit under the sun or shade and grab some drinks and grub with friends? Bar Bar offers a sweet outside sitting area that’s pet-friendly and accommodates both large and small parties, equipped with an outdoor ordering window. The burger and fried pickles are a must, along with a beer or two.

Dinner at Uchu Sushi & Fried Chicken – if you’re free on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday take advantage of Uchu’s all day happy hour. Though their standard menu is still affordable, happy hour prices are always just a little bit better. The chicken karage is out-of-this-world delicious, and paired with a sushi roll or two makes for the perfect meal. Of course, at these prices you may as well throw in a couple more items if you can finish them! For those of you who stray away from sushi, chicken teriyaki or yakisoba noodles are a great bang for your buck.

Dessert at Ruby Jewel Ice Cream – sourced from farmers and food artisans in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest, Ruby Jewel creates ice cream on a whole new level. Whether you’re looking for a small scoop of vanilla ice cream or an extraordinary butterscotch ice cream oatmeal chocolate chip cookie sandwich, this artisan ice cream shop has something for everyone.
