Neighborhood Spotlight: Hough, Vancouver, WA

By Leanne Bach, October 4, 2021

While Portland may be a haven for locally owned businesses, just across the Columbia River you’ll find an enriched community spirit in Vancouver, Washington’s Hough neighborhood. With Main Street within walking distance, you’ll find a handful of tasty local restaurants to fulfill any craving.

Start your morning off right with a jolt of caffeine from Relevant Coffee. Featuring everything from Nitro Cold Brew on tap and Americanos to Tumeric Lattes and Steamers. Relevant Coffee has a little something for everyone.

Take a break from looking at your screen and walk down to Dulin’s Cafe for their house-roasted corned beef Ruben for lunch! Dulin’s also has a few vegetarian and gluten-free options such as the Killarney potato dish featuring spicy black beans, melted cheddar, salsa fresca & sour cream!

Oh no! You forgot that your anniversary is this weekend and you haven’t made any reservations? Fear not! Your partner will be dazzled with the reservation you’re about to make with La Bottega. Their rotating menu of pasta and wine pairings is sure to be a hit! Order to-go, or make it a picnic and enjoy John Ball Park just a few blocks away!

There’s no better way to end a week than with a sweet treat, and if anybody knows about sweet treats- it’s Julianne Bucklin & Brandon Angelo of Ice Cream Renaissance! With classic flavors like Cookies and Cream to the decadent umami experience of Salted Caramel; anyone can leave satisfied and excited for the next bite!

Supporting locals doesn’t just happen in Portland proper, it’s all around. I hope this has given you some inspiration to explore more of the Hough neighborhood.
