In 2007 I was referred to Patt and Donna to help them make a move within Portland. It was time to make a big change in lifestyle and sell their Beaumont-Wilshire 1940’s home on 1/2 acre for a brand new house in Multnomah Village. They loved their 10 years in close-in SW but a decade later and both now retired, they decided to make a really big move to Santa Fe, New Mexico. Time to shake things up, experience different weather, no earthquake threat and the inherent joy of that wonderful, arts based town.
Welllll, three years later the phone call came. This past July, Patt and Donna let me know it was time to come home. Santa Fe was lovely but as with much in life, a thing/person/idea may be lovely and still not be right for you. The idea of moving again was daunting. How to connect the dots in a heated purchase market? First up, they got a quick and strong offer on their Santa Fe home. Next, they trekked to Portland in September in search of a home smack dab during the pandemic AND the worst of the September fires/dangerous air quality .Undeterred and super focused on a successful outcome before they left town, we succeeded. Last week, they closed on a gem of a one-level not far from Powell Butte.
They just rang me from the road, somewhere near La Grande and over the moon about being back in Oregon. Sometimes you do have to move far away from a place to really see it through a new lens. Patt and Donna showed keen insight by listening to how they were feeling and then real courage to act on it. Their unconditional love for Portland survives the intensity of our time, protests, unrest, bad press, climate change, epic PDX rainfall and yes, the threat of earthquakes. Beaten up and with all of its flaws, often there really is no place like home.
Welcome Back Donna and Patt! SO Happy you are Home.
