When our buyers first started looking for a home, it was mid winter. The hope of a busy Spring market with endless prospects was motivating them to start looking early. They were newlyweds ready to find a home to start a family in, filled with excitement and anxious to get the process started. We had toured a small handful of homes, getting a sense for their needs and wants when it all came to a screeching halt in early March.
We paused their search, unsure how long the pause would be, trying to navigate how to proceed with real estate in the time of a pandemic. A story we all know, what happens next and when does “next” happen? How long do we pause parts of our lives?
I felt it was important to let my clients know that we would proceed at their pace, whatever that might look like. In the meantime I would be available to keep tabs on inventory that met their needs, keep them posted on interest rates, deliver treats or just listen to their worries.
By July it was clear that a stand still pause wasn’t sustainable and that it was time to move forward, with caution and care.
Our buyers were thoughtful about not asking to see every single house, being very careful to consider location, layout and condition based on what was available online and through research. They were patient and lost one house to incredible competition, but alas, here we are early September and they finally have keys to their new home.
Another step toward starting a family has been completed! Now on to decorating!!
