Realtor Dad Crushes Career Day at Elementary School

By Steve Brian, June 6, 2023

In a move that has both impressed and bewildered local educators, Steve Brian, a neighborhood dad who works at Living Room Realty, set up a hugely popular booth at an elementary school Career Fair Day, where he managed to convince an entire classroom of kids to start shopping for homes like seasoned real estate moguls.

According to witnesses, the dad, who is a realtor by trade, arrived at the event with stacks of brochures, an “Open House” sign and a contagious enthusiasm for the housing market. Kids flocked to his booth, eager to learn more about what it takes to become a homeowner.

To the surprise of teachers and parents, the realtor dad began his presentation by informing the kids that it’s never too early to start planning for their financial future, and that the smartest thing they could do is get pre-approved with a lender and start shopping for homes immediately.

“He was like a pied piper for tiny aspiring real estate tycoons,” said Ms. Bulownya, the kindergarten teacher who witnessed the career fair. “The kids were eating it up, asking all sorts of questions about mortgages, interest rates and how they could use their HELOCs down the road to purchase a second investment property.”

By the end of the day, the realtor dad had amassed a following of pint-sized property enthusiasts who were convinced they could all be real estate moguls by the time they turned 14. Parents, meanwhile, were left scratching their heads and wondering how they would explain to their children that they can’t actually afford a four-bedroom fixer-upper in the suburbs.

In a wrap-up interview with the principal, in front of a crowd of hundreds of screaming children and befuddled parents, Steve concluded the event with an emotional speech: “While I believe that you, the children, are the future, I’d be more than happy to help your parents as well if they are looking to buy, sell or invest in real estate.” He concluded his speech with a thumbs up, a wink, a smile and a dramatic bow before back-flipping off the stage to hand out business cards and temporary tattoos of his own face as a cartoon.”

It’s not yet clear what the long-term implications of the realtor dad’s career fair success will be, but one thing is certain: every real estate agent in the area is now keeping an eye on the elementary school scene, ready to pounce on any up-and-coming homebuyers before they turn 10.
