SENDING IT

By Living Room Realty, December 28, 2020

The term “sending it” has a lot of different meanings depending on the context. I’m not sure about this, but I think it originated in the rock climbing world. Used in a sentence: “Tommy Caldwell was the first one to send the Dawn Wall on El Capitan”. When I’m snowboarding with my kids at Timberline, they always say “watch this dad, I’m gonna send it off that big jump” (then they do and scare the life out of me). At the World Surf League 2019 Tahiti Pro, Owen Wright sent it over the ledge of a Chopes drainer to beat Gabby in the final; it was insane. Everyone is sending it these days.

To get an offer accepted in the current Portland Real Estate Market these days, you’ve got to do the same: Send It!! After touring a cute house in SW Portland last month with my clients Jessi & Keith, they told me they wanted to write an offer. I knew it was going to be a popular one, so we pulled all the levers: price, terms, etc. It took a really brave and well-constructed offer to beat out the other 8 frothing buyers. It is not always comfortable to send it in the moment…but when you stick the landing or get spat out of the tube, it is always worth taking the risk.
