Kelsie and Estevan are two of the sweetest people I’ve ever met, so I was thrilled when they chose me to be their Realtor. They had decided to search for their first home in the craziest real estate market Portland has ever seen and were understandably nervous about it. I told them not to worry! When the timing was right we would find their home.
We started looking in Estevan and Kelsie’s favorite areas: Woodstock and Reed. Because there weren’t a lot of homes available to choose from, they started expanding their search to the surrounding neighborhoods too. Nothing was feeling quite right and I could feel them getting a little discouraged. And then, there it was: an adorable bungalow in Reed, well within budget. We immediately booked a showing!
It was clear that Kelsie and Estevan were enamored with this house right away, but when we went outside something magical happened. You see, Kelsie’s dad had recently passed away. He had loved sunflowers, and seeing them always reminded Kelsie of him. Well, we stepped into the backyard of this home and there was a whole patch of sunflowers staring at us, with the tallest of them fully open and facing us. Kelsie immediately got emotional. She knew her dad was smiling down on her and telling her this was the house for them!
It ended up being a very competitive offer situation and Estevan and Kelsie were not the highest by a long shot. However, we worked to craft a compelling offer that showed the seller how serious they were. And guess what? Dad must have put in a good word for us because Estevan and Kelsie’s offer was accepted. To be a part of helping these wonderful people find their home has been an absolute pleasure!
