The Place That Speaks To Your Heart

By Constance Rigney, July 6, 2020

I have known Kayla for many years.  We connected before I jumped into real estate; when I was still a practitioner of acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine.  Kayla was fresh to the west coast then, and still figuring out which dream to dream; there were so many exciting options.

From the start, I was aware of Kayla’s big heart. She has worked with non -profits professionally for many years, championed the people’s causes, and is always quick with a hug and a smile. There is usually a twinkle in her eye that lets you know she’s on your team.

When Kayla came to me to help her find a home, I knew we were in for a fun journey.  When she said that what she was looking for was a place to start an urban farm, I knew our hunt was going to be exponentially more fun than I first anticipated.

Portland has a plethora of homes on big lots.  Many of these have been transformed, by their caretakers, into food forests, chicken wonderlands, and places of delicious abundance.  We saw many beautiful properties that had been given such love and devotion by the people that owned them; it was inspiring!

It turns out, these places are really popular and many many people want to own them! Kaya fell in love and got her heart broken by a few such places.  But, as always seems to be the case, in the end we found the place that was her dream come true.

I have seen a lot of back yards in Portland-a lot, but I have never felt one that felt like this particular piece of land.  The .37 acres that belonged to this home backed right up to Kelly Butte, with all of its tall, majestic trees towering over the yard like sentries.  The yard was home to Oregon’s most delicious native plants, a family of bees, and several well- appointed areas to relax by a fire. It was having your very own garden, park, and campsite all rolled into one gorgeous spot.

Kalya knew that this was meant to be her home.  This was the place she had been waiting for. And, now it is! Congratulations, Kayla, on finding the place that speaks to your heart. I know many special times  await you there.

What I love about the field of real estate is that essentially, it’s about dreams and possibilities. It’s about finding a space that can support the life you are envisioning and crafting.

Whether purchasing your first home, dialing in your next investment property, or selling your home, my goal as your agent is to be your ally and advocate, to work diligently and creatively to help you through the process. What distinguishes me from other REALTORS®? My style in both real estate, and the rest of life, is down to earth and humorous; my spirit warm and enthusiastic. Being flexible, thorough, ethical, and a topnotch communicator are the cornerstones of my business. I am a dedicated worker and won’t stop until I get the job done! I grew up on the East Coast, but my sense of adventure brought me to Oregon, where I found a richness of community, and a great love for the wondrous natural environment of the Northwest.  I spent ten years in this city as a practitioner of Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, all the while learning about Portland’s neighborhoods, and hidden gems, through the stories of the fascinating people that call this lovely city home. Joyfully part of a dream team, I’m currently partnered with Matt Guy, wonderful human and long time real estate whiz. We work expeditiously to successfully help our clients turn their vision into reality. In my free time you might find me living the VW Van life with my dreamy husband, Scott, and firecracker daughter Roslyn; soaking up the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, supporting local non-profits, or celebrating Portland’s local music scene.
