Mike and Le’Ann knew exactly what they wanted. They needed an accessible space for their parents on their property, but also room for their little family of three with some privacy. Most of the time when I’m showing clients homes with multigenerational living potential the buyers will be living in the main space and the parents will get an ADU or basement apartment. Mike and Le’Ann didn’t need this, though. They were happy to be basement dwellers and give the main space to grandma and grandpa!
Timing is everything in real estate, and the right house was available the week Mike and Le’Ann started their home search. It wasn’t as finished as they had originally hoped it would be, but there was tons of space to play with. There was also a daylight basement apartment with incredible park views and a ton of room to spread out. Mike and Le’Ann couldn’t believe they had found something so perfect! The only problem was that it was over budget and there was still some work that would need to be done after closing.
We got together and talked strategy. It can be difficult to write an offer significantly below asking in an extremely hot seller’s market, but armed ourself with data and gave it a shot. After some negotiating we were able to settle on a price that Mike and Le’Ann were extremely happy with!
Handing over keys to this sweet family was the highlight of my week. Congrats, Mike and Le’Ann!
