Welcome to Oregon, Steven and Sascha!

By Matt Guy, August 2, 2021

In the field of real estate we make connections in so many different ways—our clients come from all walks of life.

Some people refer their family members, sometimes a client is an old friend from the ultimate frisbee days, occasionally someone sees your bio and decides you’re just the right fit for them. It truly feels like a web of life and different threads pull us together to help each other in all kinds of ways.

Steven and Sascha were a referral from Amanda Nove-Pocha, of Strange Powers Salon, who has been keeping me looking my best for more than 10 years. And, in return, I have been telling her all the great tales of Portland Real estate while she cuts my hair.  Steven recently became Amanda’s brother in law, and she kindly put her trust in me to help this new family member find a home.

Steven and his partner, Sascha, have been living outside of LA, and decided to make the move to Portland to be closer to family, clean air, and all the wonderful outdoor activities Oregon has to offer.

Sasha and Steven and are both passionate about their careers. Sasha has been working in museums for over 10 years and Steven works remotely as a software engineer. In their leisure time, they enjoy camping, bike riding, and being outdoors whenever weather permits. When indoors, Sasha can be found drawing and painting, while Steven plays the piano. Their two dogs, Bruce and Winston are each 8 years old and are always by their side.

So, what these two really wanted in a home was an art space for Sascha, a office/gaming haven for Steven, a fenced back yard for their two lovely dogs—and the house had to have style!

Apparently, they have great taste in homes, because they got beat out on house after house—it was a wild time in the market!

But, as often happens, Sascha and Steven would up being so glad to have missed out on the previous homes, because the house that they now call home was their favorite by far!

The seller was a custom woodworker, so there were beautiful handmade wood built-ins throughout the home.  This house was so different from any of the other homes that they had put offers in on.  It even has a catio big enough for five cats! Perhaps, Bruce and Winston will have some new friends?  And, best of all, this home is closer to Steven’s brother’s house than any of the previous homes he hoped to make his own.

Congratulations on your new home, Steven and Sascha! Welcome to Oregon!

Professional Service:

Finding an agent you are comfortable with is similar to, and as important, as your connection with a good attorney, accountant or financial adviser. It is my goal to help you make the best, informed decision regarding your real estate needs. Whether it is with a Buyer or a Seller, I enjoy working to help people achieve their goals. Communication is a very important aspect throughout the home buying and selling process, and I hope you find that I treat my clients with respect and show them the hard work and ethical standards that I use in my everyday practice. I enjoy working through the complexities of the transaction and have the ability to solve problems when they arise, and thrive on my ability to handle the details of a real estate transaction with professionalism, integrity and care. Like selling or buying a home, first impressions are paramount to the success of obtaining a sale. I hope that you find my professional image shines through, and that my over 18 years of real estate experience, knowledge and energy will be helpful and refreshing, as have many of my clients who have rewarded me through their repeated use and referrals.

Love of Portland:

I work throughout the Portland Metro Area, and have lived on both the East and West sides of Portland. I am very excited to live in a city with so many beautiful homes and neighborhoods. I also love Oregon and am proud to be a life long Oregonian. I have moved back to neighborhood that my Father spent his childhood and am proud to share in the history where I live. I live 8 blocks from the church where my Aunt and Uncle were married in 1956. I also love the many activities and restaurants around Portland and the nearby outdoors that it has to offer. Whether shopping at New Seasons or a farmers market, enjoying the many great parks, Portland has a great progressive and environmental spirit that helps to make it such a wonderful place to live.

More to me than real estate:

I am a former competitive Ultimate Frisbee player, and over the past few years have competed in marathons, triathlons, and other running events like the Hood to Coast. I have raised over $3000 for the Windermere Foundation through pledges from my family, friends and clients while running two Eugene Marathons. Also in 2011, I ran the New York City Marathon. In my spare time I enjoy running, hiking, playing soccer, Ultimate, and basketball. Basically, I like being active.  I guess I need to, to keep up with my two amazing children, Elliott & Nao.
