When work whisked Eric away to Seattle, we helped him sell a seriously cool mid-century house in Laurelhurst—a home filled with memories and surrounded by great friends. Fast forward a bit, and Eric’s life took a turn—he found love, tying the knot with the fabulous Kassandra. The catch? Eric’s frequent back-and-forths between Seattle and Portland left them missing each other more than they liked.
A plan started to formulate—why not head back to Portland for good, closer to friends and, most importantly, to each other? Enter Kassandra’s knack for real estate and design. One day, during a casual online scroll, she stumbled upon a gem—a 9-acre forested property boasting a one-owner mid-century time capsule. Acres of green, towering trees, and space for a horse or two, all just a 15-minute jaunt from St John’s, where their pals reside.
What started as a casual online search, turned into a whirlwind. Eric, always on the move, managed to swoop Kassandra up for a quick meet at the property. The day was classic Portland—grey skies and a drizzle—yet, it was pure magic. Ferns, moss, giant cedars, and douglas firs—it was the forest dreams are made of. Oh, and did I mention the unexpected guest at the inspection? A bear! A clear sign to these Alaskan natives that they’d stumbled upon their perfect slice of nature.
Getting this house tied up was a journey. We hit some snags, and needed a lot of inspections, site visits and 1,000 phone calls to get to the finish line. Eric and Kassandra were cool as cucumbers at every turn, always thinking big picture and staying focused on their goals.
Now, nestled in their forest haven, Eric and Kassandra have traded city buzz for the serenity of the woods without sacrificing the community vibes of bustling St John’s. We are so excited for them to have found their forest near the city—where adventure meets home sweet home.
