After raising their kids and successfully launching them from their Portland nest of 18 years, Todd and Kris decided it was time for a change of scenery. They are wine enthusiasts and nature lovers. Kris loves to garden and Todd is an avid cyclist. They decided that Yamhill County was a natural next fit and we started looking for the right home on acreage. The first place that really sparked them was a new construction home on 2 acres. It was gorgeous! As it turned out, the home was very close to the road and the view from the living room was going to be disrupted by another new build. It was a bummer because the home was so pretty. But, those issues were too much to compromise. We kept on. We saw many homes built in the 90’s with great outdoor space, mature plantings, and some views. But each one needed literally every surface redone including siding and roofs and HVAC. Multiple times we were faced with this conundrum. Re-doing an entire home takes money and time and even though the end product would be great, it would require a long wait, many decisions and owning 2 homes for an extended period of time. Doable, but not ideal.
When we saw the new construction home in Newberg come on, we jumped into action! No re-doing anything here, it was already gorgeous. And it turned out to be the same builder as the the first house they looked at and loved! This time, the view was protected and the home was situated down a long, tree-lined drive away from the road. It felt private and the views just grabbed them. The work that is needed for this home is all outside. They built a gorgeous home but left all the cleared ground as bare dirt. Several acres of it! The difference though, is that they can move in and enjoy their new home right away while having the creative outlet of making the yard what they want! Added bonus, they are only 15 minutes away from all their favorite wineries. We are so happy that everything worked out exactly as they hoped. It’s such a joy to be on this journey with folks, watching their dreams come true!
Cheers to Todd and Kris!
