Rockwood is bounded on the west by Gresham City limits, on the north by Glisan Street, on the east by 202nd Avenue/Birdsdale Avenue, and on the south, beginning with NW Eleven Mile Avenue and continuing to Market Street. In the late 19th Century, a store marker was placed every mile east of the courthouse in Portland, resulting in a “Base Line Road” along the Willamette Baseline: Rockwood developed at the 10-mile mark in a rocky and wooded area that was later the inspiration for the name of the community. Once part of unincorporated east Multnomah County, Rockwood was annexed by the City of Gresham in the mid 1980s.

Rockwood Central Park – Rockwood Central Park is a 9.4-acre park in the Rockwood Neighborhood. Lots of recreation options are available, with nine-hole disc golf course, basketball court, play area, soccer field, two softball fields & picnic tables.
Vance Park – Vance Park is a 14.5-acre park in the Rockwood Neighborhood. This forested park is owned by Multnomah County and maintained and operated by the City of Gresham. Vance Park has many fun amenities including a futsal court, play structure, walking paths, nine-hole disc golf course, picnic tables and benches, restroom, softball and soccer fields.
