The massive Eagle Creek wildfire last September in the Gorge affected 48,831 acres over several weeks, displacing wildlife, residents and the valuable fall tourism business.
While the impacts were significant, they weren’t as devastating as first thought. In fact, a recent study concluded that just 21,900 acres were ‘highly’ or ‘moderately’ burned.
Check out this great map from the USDA Forest Service highlighting what’s open in the western and eastern ends of the Gorge.
Also, consider supporting local businesses when you’re out there. If you’re a beer lover, the Thunder Island Brewing Company serves delicious beer in an incomparable setting.

The choice to become a real estate broker was a joyful combination of two very different careers. Prior to moving to Portland in 2008, I was an environmental and title closing attorney in Massachustts. Since then, I've served as a program manager and fundraising professional for Portland-based non-profit organizations Friends of Trees, The Freshwater Trust and Ecotrust.
While not scouting homes and helping clients, you can find me riding bicycles, skiing, digging in the garden, experimenting in the kitchen, and exploring the stunning beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
Please let me know how I can help you or someone you know. Thank you!
